Sonic Boom 2021

Call for Scores

Overview

Vancouver Pro Musica is pleased to invite all BC composers to submit new works written for solo oboe/English horn and/or duets for trombone and pipe organ for presentation at two on-line Sonic Boom 2021 concerts planned for March 26th-27th, 2021.

Deadline for submissions is Friday, January 8, 2021 at 11:59pm.

Note that this year’s Call is more limited in scope than in previous years. Specifically, there is NO General Call for new works for mixed ensembles this year.

Due to COVID-19 our 2021 Festival is being presented over two weekends in March, 2021. Releases of pre-recorded concerts of the postponed mixed ensemble pieces from Sonic Boom 2020 PLUS other events TBA will occur March 18th-20th, 2021.

For this year’s Call for Scores, we are delighted to present a soloist & a duo as our Featured Artists:

  • Beth Orson, (soloist): oboe/English horn, and
  • Jeremy Berkman & Angelique Po (duo):  trombones/organ

Composers may submit up to two works for either Featured Artist presented. If selected (see below) a maximum of one work per composer may be performed.

Workshops with each of the Featured Artists are planned for November 2020 (exact dates TBA).  In addition, open reading sessions for pieces chosen for each of the concerts are planned for early February, 2021.

For more information and/or to submit a piece for each Featured Artist please see the appropriate Featured Artist Call for Scores page:

  •  Beth Orson – solo oboe/English horn
  • Jeremy Berkman (trombones) & Angelique Po (pipe organ)

Thank you for your interest in submitting to Sonic Boom 2021!
