Vancouver Pro Musica Presents
Sonic Boom Festival 2022
March 10-13th, 2022
Call for Scores
Overview
Vancouver Pro Musica announces our annual Sonic Boom Festival of music & events in March, 2022.
We are delighted to welcome Vancouver-based composer Edward Top as our Composer-in-Residence for Sonic Boom 2022!
All BC composers are invited to submit new works written for:
- mixed ensembles (1-4 instruments, including voice);
- solo French horn;
- duets for flute & guitar.
Subject to public health orders in effect at that time, live concert presentation of selected works will occur during the concert portion of our Sonic Boom Festival.
NEW Deadline for submissions is Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 11:59pm.
Our 2022 Festival is being presented over four days: March 10-13, 2022. Our Career Composer event will open the Festival on March 10, and live concerts and our Composer Masterclass event will occur March 11th-13th, 2022.
As in previous Festivals, composers may choose to compose works for small mixed ensemble (1-4 parts) and/or for our Featured Artists. Composers may submit up to two works for the Festival. If selected (see below) a maximum of one work per composer may be performed.
For this year’s Call for Scores, we are delighted to present a soloist & a duo as our Featured Artists:
- Valerie Whitney (soloist): French horn, and
- the McGregor/Verdejo Duo: flute and guitar
Open reading sessions for pieces chosen for each Featured Artist concert are planned for early February, 2022. There are no open reading sessions for pieces chosen for the mixed ensemble concerts.
For more information and/or to submit a piece, please see the appropriate Call for Scores page:
